Start smaller than you think you should. A caretaker's rest rarely arrives in weekends; it arrives in minutes. The first tip is to stop waiting for the big break and claim the ten quiet minutes that already exist in your day, the kettle boiling, the porch after the morning meds, the car before you go back inside.

Second, tell one person the truth about how it is going. Not the polished version...
